The major computer systems in the Department of Human Services (DHS) share a common demographic file. CCWIPS is one of these systems. One of the data fields in this file is the case number. The case number is unique to each person. The case number is a sequential number automatically assigned in CCWIPS during the registration process. It has no bearing or reference to which system, or county initiated the case.
