TANF managers are called on to do more than identify referral sources. Referrals are monitored in a number of different ways, primarily by having the household report on the appropriateness of the services and by having the household document that contacts have been made. At times it may be appropriate to arrange for household members, outside agency staff, and the TANF manager to gather as a group to coordinate the efforts different agencies are making in working with a household. In these cases it is important to note that this must be done with the informed consent of the household, and signed releases of information must be in place before such a meeting is arranged.
